FAQ - pcaSlab

Q: pcaSlab - Does pcaSlab calculate long-term deflections?

A: Yes, in version 2.00 or higher.

Q: pcaSlab - What is the difference between pcaSlab and pcaBeam?

A: pcaSlab has integrated all of the functions of pcaBeam although pcaBeam is still a standalone software. Users who do only one-way slab/continuous beam design may choose pcaBeam. pcaSlab can design both one-way slab/continuous beam and two-way slab systems.

Q: pcaSlab - Do I have to have two cantilevers in pcaSlab?

A: No. Cantilevers are optional.

Q: pcaSlab - Does pcaSlab take into account crack control requirements for maximum bar spacing?

A: Yes for one-way slab and continuous beam systems.

Q: pcaSlab - Does pcaSlab design corner reinforcement for two-way slabs?

A: Yes.

Q: pcaSlab - Does pcaSlab support moment redistribution?

A: Yes for one-way slab and continuous beam systems.

Q: pcaSlab - Can I open pcaBeam and ADOSS data files in pcaSlab?

A: Yes.

Q: pcaSlab - Does pcaSlab consider torsion?

A: Yes.

Q: pcaSlab - What method does pcaSlab use?

A: Equivalent Frame Method.

Q: pcaSlab - Can I use pcaSlab to investigate and design waffle slabs?

A: Yes.

Q: pcaSlab - Can I use pcaSlab to investigate and design a continuous beam?

A: Yes.

Q: pcaSlab - Which design codes are supported by pcaSlab?

A: ACI 318-05, ACI 318M-05, ACI 318-02, ACI 318M-02, ACI 318-99, ACI-318M-99, CSA A23.3-94, CSA A23.3-94E
